TrueLayer is a global open banking platform that makes it easy for anyone to build better financial experiences. Founded in 2016, TrueLayer achieved unicorn status in 2021, today it is trusted by millions of consumers and businesses around the world.
Adding to the urgency, the firm had experienced challenges recruiting and retaining in-house EAs and support staff. TrueLayer needed a support team that the leadership team could trust to own workflows and hit the ground running (even sprinting).
In early 2021 TrueLayer was experiencing rapid growth whilst simultaneously closing a round of funding (the first of two rounds within a six month period). The demands on the leadership team were as varied as they were extensive - HR, investor relations, recruitment, international expansion - to name but a few.
TrueLayer was initially skeptical about finding an effective support team due to bad hiring experiences; both in-house and externally. We started small with 70 hours of monthly executive support for one individual. Once we had earned trust, TrueLayer became interested in the diverse skill sets and capacities that our support talent could provide across the business.
The end result was a partnership expanding across business and executive support, encompassing both our retained monthly service and one-off project bolt-ons - as and when required. FYXER acted as an internal operations team, supporting across Finance, EA and recruitment teams. In total over 30 members of TrueLayer’s team were able to call on our help. 2021 was a big year for TrueLayer.
The firm expanded internationally, hired extensively and achieved unicorn status with a $1bn valuation on their successful September fundraise. We played our part, winning time, energy and productivity back across the business. The leadership team described our lead, Lauren, as being as effective as an ‘air traffic controller in a war zone.’ As important to the success of our partnership was the seamless integration of our team of FYXERS into TrueLayer’s processes and culture.
TrueLayer started working with us in March 2021, initially focusing support on the CEO with our executive service. We owned day to day tasks including diary management, travel planning and offered administrative support wherever we spotted an opportunity to win back time. Our partnership evolved into also offering ongoing business support across the firm, working with multiple teams and people.
As growth ramped up, we added recruitment specialists to the support team of Fyxers, freeing up time for TrueLayer’s own senior talent staff to focus on higher priority and value tasks. Event planning was another area where we worked together. TrueLayer used our project service to help with its anniversary party. Due to the event expertise of the Fyxers on the project, we were able to lead pre-production, managing suppliers and organisation ahead of the event.
